Impart a dimensional iridescent finish to walls with Valspar Signature Colors Brushed Pearl Glaze. This faux finish is subtle, incorporating gentle tones for a muted effect. It's simple to apply, and will add elegance and sophistication to any room.
One gallon covers approximately 100-200 sq. ft. (9.3-18.6m²) depending on surface porosity and texture. Do not thin.
Use on properly prepared wall and ceiling surfaces.
Surface should be clean and dry. Scrape off loose paint and patch all holes, cracks and indentations. Any imperfections and wall seams will be more visually apparent with a metallic paint.
Apply a base coat of Valspar® Signature Colors® Interior Satin Wall and Trim Paint in a color similar to your chosen Brushed Pearl Glaze. Allow to dry completely. Use a color wash brush to apply Brushed Pearl, cut in along ceiling, floor and molding of a 4' x 8' working area and then proceed to the main wall brushing in "x" patterns. Apply an even, opaque layer. Thicker applications can be smoothed out with the trowel. Return to beginning of working area. Hold the plastic float trowel and press into the wet surface and move the material in a circular motion. The trowel should grab slightly and create a swirl effect. If the surface is too wet it will "slip" over the material and it is necessary to wait a little longer before using the trowel. Clean trowel if dry product builds up. Continue across the wall applying Brushed Pearl and swirling with the plastic float trowel. Allow the surface to dry for four hours. Apply a second coat of Brushed Pearl if desired using the same method.
Brushed Pearl has a set up time that's necessary to create the swirl or cloud like appearance with the plastic float trowel. The trowel will grab slightly when the proper set up time occurs. Thickness of application and environmental conditions will greatly affect or determine set up time. In higher humidity or cooler temperatures, it is possible to brush out an entire wall up to an 8' x 10' area and work back into it with the plastic float trowel. In dryer conditions, it will be necessary to work in puzzle piece sections measuring approximately 4' x 4'.
Apply only when surface and air temperatures are 50-90°F (10-32°C). Dries to the touch in 1-3 hours. Wait 4 hours before applying second coat.
