Features

Medallion Interior Latex Primer provides an excellent base coat for latex or oil-based paints. Assures tight bonding and increased coverage of the finish coat. Dries quickly so finish coat may be applied on the same day. Cleans up easily with soap and water.

Coverage

One gallon covers up to 400 sq. ft. (37.2 m²) depending on surface porosity. Thin only for spray application with up to 8 oz. of water per gallon.

Where to Use

Use on new drywall, wallboard and previously painted walls, cured plaster and patching compound.

Preparing the Surface

Clean and dry surface thoroughly. On bare wallboard, and joint compound plaster, sand joints smooth and level with surface. Remove sanding dust with damp cloth or sponge, then prime. On previously painted surfaces, clean surface to remove wax, dirt and other foreign matter. Scrape off any loose or peeling paint. Patch cracks and nail holes. Dull glossy areas with gloss remover or sandpaper. Spot prime water stains with latex stain blocking primer. Then prime entire surface. On masonry and cement, first remove all loose or sandy material, dirt, grease and oil with an all-purpose cleaner (TSP). Then prime. Bare Wood may require special attention. Spot prime knots and sappy areas with an oil-based stain blocking primer after removing sap by scraping and cleaning with mineral spirits. Let dry, sand, remove dust with damp cloth, sponge or tack cloth. Then primer entire surface.
