WHAT YOU'LL NEED

STEP 1: CHECK THE WEATHER

Before you tackle your patio, check the forecast to make sure there’s no rain or cold temperatures approaching. If you see blue skies and dry temperatures for the next few days, you should be good to go.

STEP 2: SURFACE PREP

The first thing you should do is assess the condition of your patio. Remove all your outdoor furniture and decor, and check to see if your boards appear to be structurally sound and that all nails or screws are secured. If any repairs are needed, this is the time to address them.

The surface must be clean, dry and free of all loose or peeling paint. We recommend power washing for best results. Rough or splintered wood surfaces should be sanded smooth.

STEP 3: APPLICATION

At this point, you’ve stripped the old paint and are ready to treat it as new. Tape around the edges of the wall, and then you’re ready to paint. Valspar® Latex Satin Porch, Floor & Patio Paint is a great go-to because it works on both wood and concrete. Latex paint also keeps floors durable and protected over the years. Renewing the life of your patio is easy. Just follow the proper steps, and your outdoor space appears brand new!

Mix your paint well before and during use. Use a brush to cut in around walls and doors edges for clean lines. Plan your route, then begin applying the paint using a roller.
